St. Augustine Continued...

My cousin and I visited grams last night and then went to Sunset Grill and enjoyed a couple beers. I am still having some troubles sleeping so up at 7am and walked across the street to the beach and took some more Iphone pictures. I know I need to get the real camera out, but trying to still take a few good pictures. In a couple days I should be kayaking in Palm City and Key West and have the underwater housing on the camera and ready to hopefully get some great pictures. Thanks for the comments. I am glad everyone is enjoying the trip. I am slowly adding decals to the Jeep Trunk from places visited. Might have to get a picture of that soon too. Good Morning and enjoy your weekend.

Saint Augustine

I made it over to St. Augustine to visit family. This morning I walked across the street and the tide was coming all the way in. You could walk down the stairs and if you time it with the waves, jump in walk thru the water where the beach should be. I have been working on taking I phone Pictures. So posting a few pictures I have taken here all from my I phone. Well time to go. Have a wonderful day.

Reminds me of a school of ducks

Clearwater, Florida

Good morning everyone, Well I made it out of Charleston daring the rains and arrived safely in Clearwater, Florida. I hope to get a lot of good pictures and try and remember how to use a good camera. I woke up this morning and a few sailboats were cruising out to sea and I was fortunate to get a couple pictures.

Catalooche Valley

Catalooche Valley

I ended  up making it to Catalooche Valley. Had a nice drive, but forgot about the fun curvy road to get there. I got there 5 minutes before the gates opened. As I drove in wild turkeys and Elk where grazing. You would have thought there was a photography class or professional sporting event going on. Everyone was jumping out of their cars and grabbing mega dollar cameras with lens you could see the moon. Proping up the tripods and taking pictures. Then I would walk up with my little Canon Powershot G12 and snap and jump in the Jeep and drive further on in. It was a beautiful morning about 52 degrees and cloudy.

Catalooche Valley

If I can get myself up and moving in the early morning I am going to try and take some pictures at Catalooche Valley before driving in the opposite direction to go visit a good friend in Mooresville.

If you have never been to Catalooche Valley here are driving Driving directions from Asheville.

Directions: The entrance road to Cataloochee Valley is a winding, gravel road that has some steep drop offs with no guard rails. The road is narrow, so drivers may be required to stop or back up their vehicles to allow oncoming motorists to pass. Horse trailer traffic may be encountered on the road. Please use caution when driving on this road.
The most direct route into the valley is to take Cove Creek Road. To get to the valley from interstate I-40, exit at North Carolina exit #20 and travel 0.2 miles on route 276. Turn right onto Cove Creek Road and follow the signs 11 miles into the Cataloochee Valley.

Cades Cove Primitave Baptist Church

One of several Churches at Cades Cove

Drive to Cades Cove

September 12,2011
I woke up and decided to Jeep it to Cades Cove, Tennessee. Taking I40 to Maggie Valley thru Cherokee, NC on into Tenn. I left around 5am and got there about 7am after all the fun curves, but completely worth it. I pulled into Cades Cove and there was a deer to the left grazing. He didn't even care I was standing there taking a picture of him. Cades Cove is in the Smokey Mountains. It is about an 11 mile loop with old churches and wildlife. I will have to post one of the church picture. The churches were built back in the mid 1800's. As I drove in  there was a tree on the right and 3 bears up in it sleeping and playing. You almost forget how dangerous they are as you walk up taking pictures of them. I continued around the loop and decided to take a little hike to Abrahams falls. I started walking and 1 hour later still walking. I didn't plan on hiking so turned around and headed back. I saw a heron sitting there and was taking a picture as he took off. Again made the little hike completely worth it. Getting back to the Jeep and finished the loop and head back to Asheville.
