Road Trip Finally underway
Welcome Center on I 40 |
On the way thru Tennessee I had to stop when I saw this Dinosaur at Exit 134 on I 75 in Tennessee. It is a 30 foot Dinosaur that use to be next to a fire works store that is now gone. You can see the dinosaur from the Interstate.
After getting into Kentucky I pulled over at the Kentucky Music Hall of fame. It was about a 30 to 45 minute self guided tour then back on the road again.

After leaving Kentucky I drove into Ohio catching I 74 to Indiana which is were I am tonight. Not much so far in Indiana to take pictures of, but more driving tomorrow so no telling. I am sure once I get on Route 66 there will be lots of interesting pictures.
Ofcourse had to tell dad I wasn't looking at maps and almost ended up
taking I 75 to northern Ohio before realizing I needed to be on I74
A quick turn around and back on track.

I should be getting on the road WEST soon. I am thinking Jeepin from Asheville toward Route 66 to Arizona. Should be a fun drive. I will try and do better getting on here. Have a great week.

Green Valley, Arizona
I am currently in Arizona, but headed back to North Carolina in a couple days then back to the road trip cross country. A few changes, but hopefully back on here with more pictures and maybe a story or two. I was able to get with more family and take a drive to Santa Rita Mountains in Corando National Forest. On the drive we saw some Rat Rods parked and had to check them out.
Today, October 12th we drove down to Tubac, Arizona just south of Green Valley. It is a little town with several shops. One of the shops was La Paloma. You can see they have a lot of neat stuff for the Celebration of the Dead.
October 6th- Dan, Pat and I headed to Key West, Florida in a couple Jeeps camping. We stopped in Islamorada at Rum Runners for lunch and a drink. Dan and I in the picture to the left and Pat and I in the picture to the right. It is a fun place with a great view and a nice break from driving.
After a short stay we continued on down thru the Keys until we got to Stock Island, just short of Key West. We started camping at Boyd's Campground, but unfortunately the trip due to a family emergency was cut short. However, we met our Iguana friend at the site. Any suggestions for a name? Pedro? After we got set up we walked to Hog Fish Bar and Grill for a little dinner and waited for our last friend, Brad to show up.

Palm City, Florida
The morning started off with Pat and I driving over to Dans.We stopped in at Ohana Surf Shop in Stuart, Florida. I bought $20 worth of raffle tickets for a charity and a chance to win the surf board in the picture. Dan's son should be pretty happy if I win it. hint hint Next door was the convenience store so popped in for a Monster Rehab to kick start the day. Could not pass up the post card you see to the right. I am sure Mike in Iraq appreciated that email. Finally we met up with Dan and went sight seeing which included only making it as far as Kona Beach Cafe and having some Bud lights. The picture to the bottom left is Pat and Dan at KB Cafe. Afterwards got back to Dans and was playing a little football with his kids. Well enough of sounding like Facebook for the day. Time for a good night sleep and off to Key West in the morning. Be ready for a lot of pictures.
Daytona Beach to Palm City, Florida
Had another nice day in Daytona waking up to a beautiful Sunrise. Later I headed down to a nice bar and grill at a marina called " Down the Hatch" and had a delicious Blackend Mahi Mahi sandwich and fries.
Pat flew into Daytona and we had a couple beers at an Irish Pub and hit the road yesterday down A1A taking about 5 hours to go 180 miles. Highly recommended drive. The weather was perfect, the beaches very sandy and no lights or traffic. There are a few places you can stop on the way down and again beats the interstate any day. Ofcourse stopped at Ron Jons Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach. So far I have managed to take US 1 and A1A from Jacksonville all they way to Palm City. Unfortunately tomorrow we are taking I 95 from here into the Keys and pick up US 1 the remainder of the way. Time to get on with the day. More to come. I am sure I will get a couple new pictures today here in Palm City. Marie, Serenity, thank you for the comments. I enjoy hearing from you. I will post some more pictures and keep everyone posted soon. Have a great day.

Daytona Beach
I had a good visit with my family in St. Augustine. I hope everyone enjoyed the I phone pictures of the beach. I haven't gone far. I made it to Daytona where I am meeting up with Patrick today. Tomorrow we head down the coast line to Palm City to meet up with Dan and his family. Then head to Key West camping, snorkling and kayaking. I will keep the pictures coming. Around mid October dad and I head out west and you will see you more of the country. Have a great day.
