I am playing a little catch up. Kansas only has 13.2 miles of Route 66 in the south East corner of the state, but there are some fun spots. For starters Kansas is know as the Sunflower state. Some of the Route 66 is marked with the sunflower shield. Galena is the first town you come into as you cross over the stateline. The portland concrete roads still have the hand painted Route 66 shields. So on with the trip and less of the history lesson.
The earlier blog I showed a picture with Tomator and my Jeep. Incase you missed it I will post it again. You can find tomator at the 4 women on the Route 66 service station in Galena when he is not in Radiator Springs. The services stations along all of Route 66 have been amazing how well they have been restored. I try and stop at most of them, but I guess you know that from all the service station pictures. More to come too. OK ok, enough chatting, let me see what other pictures I have for Kansas. O not only service stations, but Route 66 has a lot of old bridges. Several of them you can see as you drive by while others you can still drive on. So much history.
I am trying to put a picture of the Marsh Curve Bridge, but it keeps giving me an error so you get to see me on the bridge.
There is still more for the 13.2 miles of Kansas, but that highlights it. I still need to get caught up with Oklahoma.
