Being Route 66 has so many giant status I couldn't pass up the Giant Milk Bottle. I drove around a couple blocks until I found it. The building was built in the 1930's. The milk Braum milk bottle was added in 1948. Some things you have to go off the Route to find, but seeing the towns and cities are some of the fun. You would miss so much if you never left the Route.
I woke up and hit the road again. It was early so the Oklahoma Museum was still closed, but a cool spot to check out. The museum is right on Route 66 so you can't miss it. It is the first state sponsored Route 66 museums in the 8 Route 66 states.
Outside the museum over to the left you can't miss the restored Valentine Diner, 1956. It use to be in Shamrock, texas, but was moved and restored in 2002-2003. The interior and exterior were restored to almost exact.
I tell you it seems Oklahoma keeps going. So going to jump to the end before entering Texas.
As you get to the state line you I guess they weren't sure where the line was. The town is called Texola.
You can find the Bandit museum and Texola Territorial Jail, 1910. You have to turn down a little side road and go about a small block and it is on the right. The cage door is unlocked. When you walk in you find pictures from back in the day. Here is one picture I took of the pictures.
Just a little further down the Route before entering texas is Water Hole #2.
Finally after the water hole #2 you come to the Texas state line.
