Most of these pictures are historic signs. Even if the hotels and businesses are gone the signs still mark the route holding on to the times. Meanwhile lots of new landmarks are going up and years down the road they will be part of the history of Route 66.

Driving furher down Route 66 I came to a small town Depew. Some of the towns get completely skipped over so I tried to make sure and drive thru them. Off the Route is an Ozark Trail Obelisk. It marks the right turn on the Ozark Trail . It has been painted over and out off a dirt road. Some of these neat treasures are hidden off the beatin path.
The Early Bird Diner is still open as a Diner. It has a collection of License plates covering the front door. It is located in Davenport, Ok. It use to be an old gas station before being restored.
I was driving along and wanted to pull over to catch something I missed when I accidently pulled into the ruins. Ruins in Rock O' Ages 1920's, has a back window and story has it that they took counterfeit money out the window. It was closed in the 1930's when a set of counterfeit $10 plates were found in the back room along with printing ink.
Just down the road you come on a round barn in Arcadia. It was built in 1898 by W.T. Odot. It is 43 feet and 6o feet in diameter. I was hoing to get to go in and checkit out, but it was being set up for a wedding. The inside is pretty wild. If you can't go see it, definitely google it.
Well still more of Oklahoma to come and lots more fun stories especially when I hit Texas and New Mexico. It is 11pm and another day planned tomorrow. Here is an example of today to come. I will share the funny stories in a couple days. I tend to call my dad and keep him laughing. I will keep working on getting caught up and promise more stories and less history soon.
Have a great night.
